A family business with a story
In 1932 Peter’s father started an equestrian workshop in Amsterdam, just behind the Kalverstraat. Later a second shop opened in the Van Baerlestraat near the Concertgebouw. There was an in-house tailoring room for riding jackets and breeches. The equestrian scene was different back then. Jockeys and devoted riders visited often. Peter grew up among boots and tools and never left the craft.
Materials that shape character
Today there is much more room for personal style. Patent details, crocodile or nubuck accents, Swarovski, contrast stitching. Almost anything is possible. Choice is great, yet the foundation is always the same. Fit first. Style follows.
Fit starts with the right last
A custom boot only works when the last is right. Every leg is different. Left and right often differ too. If a boot pinches or slips, the last is usually off. Too tight is as bad as too loose. Careful measuring is key. We check instep height, calf volume, ankle shape and any sensitive spots. Only then do you get a pair that truly fits.
Bumps, stories and years of riding
Training shapes the body. Some riders have small bony areas or specific muscle lines. A good boot does not highlight those. It supports the leg and looks clean and elegant. If someone asks for glitter or high-shine patent, that is fine. We start with fit. Without fit it is a boot of nothing.
The craft that stays
A well-made riding boot is special. No machine replaces skilled hands. When you ride in a pair that was measured and built with care, you feel the experience behind it. That is real craftsmanship.
